Working with roundtrip configurations
The complete requirements exchange process between business partners is organized by configurations. One configuration is used for each business partner in each development project. It can be used by the owner both to export the initial requirements to ReqIF files and to update his requirements database with the modified requirements he receives from his supplier as ReqIF files. The supplier, on the other hand, can use his configuration to import the initial requirements of the owner into his RE/RM database, and to re-export the modified requirements to ReqIF format for the owner of the requirements.
Windchill Requirements Connector has two ways to store the meta information of the exchange process:
Local Replication
Global Replication
The used type defined during the installation process of Windchill Requirements Connector cannot be changed at runtime.
Local Replication
When using this replication type, each roundtrip configuration has its own replication database in the data folder.
*
It is important that the complete exchange process is executed with the same roundtrip configurations, otherwise the exchange can broken.
Global Replication
An Oracle database is required for global replication. In that database all replication information of all roundtrip configurations are stored. This allows to use multiple configurations in one exchange process.
For local replication it is possible to define the complete connection settings to the RE/RM tool. For global replication, only predefined RE/RM servers can be selected. The available servers are managed by your administration.
Preferences
The used replication path can be checked in the preference page:Window > Preferences > PTC Requirements Connector > Global replication. This is a folder on a network file server that contains the required settings for using the global replication.
