This property specifies the purpose of an item in the model. For example, Class, Actor, Use Case etc. Each item type has its own set of properties and rules that determine how that item type can be used in the model. Each item type has a different icon, so that you can quickly identify the type of any item.
This read-only property is set by Modeler when you create an item, and it cannot be changed.
If you select the Overwrite Type Name check box for a Stereotype and apply that Stereotype to an item, on the item's Property Pages the name of the Stereotype will appear as the item's Type. .
This property is displayed on the General tab of an item's Property Pages.
You can use the Type property as search criteria in the Find Model Items dialog.
