Disk (dictionary item)
For automation interface information about a Disk, see Disk (automation interface).
A disk is a mass storage device attached to the system.
The Speed and Size of a Disk is specified by a linked Disk Type.
You can create a Disk through the context menu of a Package: right-click the Package, point to New, point to Proprietary, point to System Architecture Model, and then click Disk.
In addition, you can also create a Disk by copying an existing Disk. Modeler copies the Disk's links. For more information, see Copying items.
When used on a System Architecture Diagram, a Disk's notation is as follows:
If a Disk has two or more instances, the following notation is used.
In the Modeler panes, a short-cut symbol on the Disk's icon indicates that the item is a stub.
The following sections provide information about how a Disk is used in the model. For more information about a property, item, model part or diagram, click it.
Properties
In addition to the standard properties, a Disk has these properties:

The Disk Type list on the Options tab of a Disk's Property Pages allows you to link the Disk with a Disk Type.
The Size and Speed properties that are displayed on the Options tab of a Disk's Property Pages are inherited from the linked Disk Type.

Dependency — The Dependency is owned jointly by the Disk and the other associated item. The access permissions you have to a Dependency are determined by the access permissions of the dependent item.
Drop —The Drop is owned jointly by the Disk and the associated Multidrop Bus. The access permissions you have to a Drop are determined by the access permissions you have to the source item.
Point-to-point Connection — The Point-to-point Connection is owned jointly by the Disk and the associated item. The access permissions you have to a Point to Point Connection are determined by the access permissions you have to the source item.

Can be linked to these dictionary items
In addition to the owning Package or Model, a Disk can be linked to the following items.
Disk Type — The linked Disk Type specifies the Speed and Size of the Disk.
Stereotype
Subsystem — Note that a Disk cannot be linked to both a Package and a Subsystem.
