About Groups
Groups associate logical components in the same part. A group can be made up of multiple blocks, groups, ports. A cable is a group made up of fibers.
There are two types of group:
A fixed group is defined by a one-to-one correspondence between members of the catalog group and members of the instanced group. When you place an instance of a fixed group from the catalog, a new instance is created for each member of the group and one for the group itself.
A variable group contains one of each group member, such as a relay, which can have 1 coil, between 1 and 4 normally closed or open contacts. You specify 1 or more group members to instance when you instance the group. Variable groups are also used to define connectors.
