Activity (operational) (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
Creation
To create an Activity (Operational):
From an Architectural Description or Service Description: right-click the Architectural Description or Service Description, point to New, point to DoDAF, point to Operational, and then click Activity (Operational).
From a Performer (Operational), Standard Activity (Operational) or Activity (Operational): right-click the element, point to New, point to DoDAF, and then click Activity (Operational).
From an OV-5 Operational Activity Decomposition Tree, CV-6 Capability to Operational Activity Mapping or SV-5 Function to Operational Activity/Service Function Definition: click the Activity (Operational) toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Note that an Operation (Operational) message represents an Activity (Operational) on an OV-6c Operational Event-Trace Description.
You can convert an Activity (Operational) to a Standard Activity (Operational): right-click the Activity (Operational), point to Convert To, and then click Standard Activity (Operational).
Appearance
When shown on an OV-5 Operational Activity Decomposition Tree, CV-6 Capability to Operational Activity Mapping or SV-5 Function to Operational Activity/Service Function Definition, an Activity (Operational) appears as follows:
When shown on an OV-6b Operational State Transition Description, an Activity (Operational) appears as a Do Activity (Operational) call:
Relationships
The following relationships are of importance to an Activity (Operational):
Implements relationships link an Activity (Operational) to the Activity (Service) elements it implements.
Activity Performed by Performer relationships link an Activity (Operational) to Performer (Operational) and Security Domain elements that perform the Activity (Operational).
Activity Action (Operational) elements link an Activity (Operational) to other Activity (Operational) and Standard Activity (Operational) elements that are invoked by the Activity (Operational).
Activity Maps To Capability relationships link an Activity (Operational) to Capability elements that are mapped to.
An Operation (Operational) message represents an Activity (Operational) on an OV-6c Operational Event-Trace Description.
The following sections provide information about how an Activity (Operational) is used in the model.
