Desired effect (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
Creation
To create a Desired Effect:
• From a Capability, Performer (System), Vision, Activity (System), Operational Context, Performer (Operational), Activity (Operational), Organization Type, System Context, Person Role Type, Activity (Project), Project Type, System, Responsibility, Security Domain, Service Access, Software, or Standard Activity (Operational): right-click the desirer element, point to Links, point to Capability, and then click Desired State. From the Links Editor, select the desired states.
The desired state elements can be Atomic State (Operational), Concurrent State (Operational), Final State (Operational), Sequential State (Operational), Submachine State (Operational), Atomic State (System), Concurrent State (System), Final State (System), Sequential State (System) or Submachine State (System) elements.
• From an Atomic State (Operational), Concurrent State (Operational), Final State (Operational), Sequential State (Operational), Submachine State (Operational), Atomic State (System), Concurrent State (System), Final State (System), Sequential State (System), or Submachine State (System): right-click the desired element, point to Links, point to Capability, and then click Desired By. From the Links Editor, select the desirer element.
The desirer elements can be Capability, Performer (System), Vision, Activity (System), Operational Context, Performer (Operational), Activity (Operational), Organization Type, System Context, Person Role Type, Activity (Project), Project Type, System, Responsibility, Security Domain, Service Access, Software or Standard Activity (Operational) elements.
Appearance
A Desired Effect does not appear on any diagrams.

• To specify the Measure element that provides a measure of effectiveness: right-click the Desired Effect, point to Links, and then click Provided Measure Of Effectiveness.
