RBD Diagram Library File Overview
An RBD Diagram Library file stores block diagrams that you want to retrieve and insert later in other System files. You can create any number of RBD Diagram Library files. Using the Library Browse window, you can search for and insert diagrams in enabled RBD Diagram Library files into a System file. For more information, see Library Browse Window. Enabled RBD Diagram Library files are searched in the order specified in the Project properties. For more information, see Setting the Search Order for System and Library Files.
The panes in the RBD Diagram Library file are basically the same as the panes shown in the System file when only the RBD module is in use. The tables in the RBD Table and RBD Blocks panes use the same Table Format files specified for these tables in the System file. However, from an RBD Diagram Library file, you cannot use the Format Builder to customize these tables. You can only customize these tables using the Format Builder from the System file. For more information, see Table Format Files.
The following table describes only how the panes in the RBD Diagram Library file differ from the RBD panes in the System file. For more information, see RBD Panes.

RBD Table
You cannot insert folders for organizing block diagrams into the RBD Table in this file because all diagrams must be at the root level for effective diagram searching. You cannot store phase diagrams in these files. For more information, see Phase Diagrams.

When you open the Calculation Properties and Visual Properties windows for these blocks, not all properties are available. For example, in the Calculation Properties window, data linking is unavailable on the Links page, and the two Calculations pages are not present. Data linking to other System file items and calculations are possible only within System files.
When the RBD Diagram pane is active, the commands on the Diagram menu are the same as those on this menu in the System file. For descriptions, see Diagram Commands. The commands on the RBD menu are a subset of the commands on the RBD menu for the System file. Likewise, the commands on the shortcut menu for blocks are a subset of the commands on the shortcut menu for blocks in the System file.
Properties for the RBD Diagram Library file are a subset of the RBD properties for the System file. Under RBD and then Default Styles, you can select the default style for the RBD objects in this support file. For more information, see RBD System File Properties. Additionally, under Identifiers, you can configure the format to use to assign unique identifiers to the RBD objects inserted directly in this file. For more information, see Identifiers Support File Properties.
Reporting on this file works in the same manner as reporting on the System file. However, you must create Report Design files specifically for RBD Diagram Library files. You cannot use the Report Design files made to report on block diagrams in System files to report on block diagrams in RBD Diagram Library files.
While RBD Diagram Library files can reside in the Common Library, you cannot open them from there. You can only open RBD Diagram Library files when a standard Project is open so that the Table Format and other support files that they require are available. For more information, see Common Library.
You can import data into and from these files. Because Import/Export Template files for blocks and block maintenance affect System files by default, to import to or export from an RBD Diagram Library file, this file must be open and active. The Import Template file selected for this file type can only update blocks. If it attempts to add blocks, an error message is shown, indicating that this file type does not support adding blocks. For more information, see Importing and Exporting.
