Travel Line Price Calculation
Describes how Get Price calculates the Travel Line amount on a Work Order based on the Default Travel Unit: Zone, Flat, Tiered Per Mile/Km, or Per Hour.
The Get Price action on a Work Order calculates the Travel Line amount based on the Default Travel Unit configured in the Travel Policy under the Service Contract. Four travel unit types are supported: Zone, Flat, Tiered Per Mile/Km, and Per Hour.
For more information about configuring a Travel Policy, see Adding a Travel Policy.
Zone
If the Default Travel Unit is set to Zone, each zone in the Travel Policy maps to a specific price. For example:
Zone
Configured Price
Zone 1
$100
Zone 2
$300
Zone 3
$400
During the Get Price process, the Zone value selected in the Service Contract is used to apply the corresponding amount. If Zone 1 is selected, the Travel Line price is $100.
For information about configuring zone pricing, see Adding Zone Pricing.
Flat
If the Default Travel Unit is set to Flat, during the Get Price process, the predefined Flat Travel Rate from the Travel Policy is applied as the Travel Line amount. The price remains fixed regardless of travel distance or duration.
For example, if the Flat Travel Rate is $150, the Travel Line price is $150 for every Work Order.
Tiered Per Mile/Km
If the Default Travel Unit is set to Tiered Per Mile/Km, during the Get Price process, the actual travel distance entered on the Travel Line is evaluated and the amount is calculated based on the mileage tiers defined in the Travel Policy. Each tier specifies a distance range (Minimum and Maximum), a unit type (Flat Rate or Per Mile/Km), and a rate.
For example, if the Travel Policy defines the following tiers:
Tier Name
Minimum
Maximum
Rate (Per Mile/Km)
Tier 1
0
10
$2.00
Tier 2
11
50
$1.50
For a 25-mile trip, Tier 1 covers the first 10 miles at $2.00 = $20.00, and Tier 2 covers the next 15 miles at $1.50 = $22.50. The total Travel Line price is $42.50.
For information about defining mileage tiers, see Adding a Mileage Tier.
Per Hour
If the Default Travel Unit is set to Per Hour, during the Get Price process, the total travel duration recorded on the Work Order Travel Line is multiplied by the configured hourly travel rate.
For example, if the hourly rate is $50 and the travel duration is 3 hours, the Travel Line price is $150.
