Parts and Expense Pricing Coverage Logic
For Parts and Expense Work Detail lines, both the unit price and the Coverage % are determined based on the pricing rules defined for each line type and the applicable entitlement source.
For Parts Pricing
If the line is covered by a Product Warranty, the system retrieves the unit price in the following order:
1. Work Order Pricebook (Org-Wide Setting: SET022)
2. Default Pricebook (Group Setting: SET017)
If the line is covered by a Service Contract, the system retrieves the unit price in the following order:
1. Special Pricing defined on the Service Contract (Parts Pricing or Parts Discount)
2. Service Contract Pricebook
3. Work Order Pricebook (Org-Wide Setting: SET022)
4. Default Pricebook (Group Setting: SET017)
For Expense Pricing
If the line is covered by a Product Warranty, the user must enter the unit price manually.
If the line is covered by a Service Contract, the system retrieves the Expense Type price from the special pricing defined in the service contract. If no matching entry is found, the system sets the unit price to zero.
The following table describes where the Coverage % is derived from based on the entitlement source.
Entitlement Source
Coverage % Source
Covered Work Plan under Service Contract
Fetched from the Covered Work Plan associated with the Service Contract entitlement.
Covered Work Plan under Product Warranty
Fetched from the Covered Work Plan associated with the Product Warranty entitlement.
Service Product is Entitled (Product Warranty)
Fetched from the Product Warranty directly, since entitlement is at the Service Product level.
*
When a Service Product is entitled through a service contract, it inherits only the special pricing defined in the service contract. Coverage percentages apply only when the entitlement is provided through a Covered Work Plan.
