Advanced Lookup
Lightning Theme
The advanced lookup search capability helps you narrow the search and get the exact records from the lookup. For example, the technician is de-briefing a Work Order and wants to search for a specific part unavailable in the quick-find lookup list. The technician uses the Advanced Search option to quickly refine the list of records and add the required part.
You can define additional filters in the advanced lookup search at runtime when searching for a specific record. You can use both advanced criteria defined during runtime and lookup criteria already configured by the admin. You also have the option of hiding the admin-defined filters. For more information, see
Hiding Admin Filters.
|
Using the advanced lookup criteria defined during runtime and the admin-defined lookup criteria simultaneously is considered an AND operation.
|
To perform the advanced search:
1. Launch an SFM.
2. Click the magnifying glass icon in the lookup field to open the Lookup Search window.
3. Click the Advanced Search and Filter icon on the lookup modal on the top left to view the Advanced Search and Filters.
5. Click Apply these Filters to apply the search expressions and get the desired results.
6. Click Reset All to reset the search expressions and start over. The Reset All option clears the advanced search expressions. The advanced filter selection as per the admin-defined configuration is applied.
Hiding Admin Filters
You can hide the pre-defined admin search filters and define new search criteria at runtime.
To hide the admin filters:
1. Launch an SFM.
2. Click the magnifying glass icon in the lookup field to open the Lookup Search window.
3. Click the Advanced Search and Filter icon on the lookup modal on the top left to view the Advanced Search and Filters.
4. Click Hide Admin Filters to hide the admin-configured filters from the lookup modal.
Defining a Search Expression
You can define a search expression at runtime to narrow down the search.
To define a search expression:
1. Launch an SFM.
2. Click the magnifying glass icon in the lookup field to open the Lookup Search window. You can add up to three expression rows with the AND or OR operator between the expression rows.
3. Click the Advanced Search and Filter icon on the lookup modal on the top left to view the Advanced Search and Filters.
4. Define the search expression using the fields described in the following table.
Fields | Description |
---|
Object | Select the object on which the advanced search is to be performed. It can be the same lookup object or its related object. |
Field | Select the field on which the advanced search is defined. |
Evaluation | Select the evaluation operators. |
Value | Select the value. |
5. Click the + icon to add more rows. You can add up to three rows with the AND or OR operator between the rows. When you select the AND or OR operator for the second row, the operator selection is retained for the next rows and is non-editable.
| If you enter incorrect field values in the expression, an appropriate error message is displayed as shown in the following screen. |
