Supported File Types for Library Browsing

The following table describes the types of library files that you can use the Library Browse window to search. It also provides references for information about performing searches and related tasks. The active pane in the System file determines which options are available in the Library Browse window.

Because System files are similar to Assembly and Prediction Parts Library files, you can use the Library Browse window to search System files and then copy an assembly or part in one System file to another System file.

Assemblies

Provides for searching for assemblies stored in Assembly Library files. This option is available when a FMEA or Prediction pane is selected in the System file.

EPRD and NPRD parts are contained in EPRD and NPRD Libraries, which are electronic databooks that you cannot open from Windchill Risk and Reliability. For more information, see NPRD and EPRD Libraries.

EPRD Parts

Provides for searching for parts stored in the EPRD Library. The 217Plus or PRISM model must be licensed to browse the EPRD Library. When this condition is met, the option for browsing EPRD parts is available when a Prediction or RBD pane is selected in the System file.

NPRD 1995 Parts

Provides for searching for parts stored in the NPRD 1995 Library or the NPRD 2011 Library. These two options are available when a Prediction or RBD pane is selected in the System file.

NPRD 2011 Parts

For FTA Diagram and Event Library files, searches are possible only between source files and target files that have the same FTA calculation type. For example, when you search FTA Diagram Library files, the search returns records only from FTA Diagram Library files with the same calculation type as the file from which the search was initiated. The same FTA calculation type is also a requirement for insertions and updates.

FTA Diagrams

Provides for searching for fault trees or branches stored in FTA Diagram Library files. This option is available when an FTA pane is selected in the System file.

FTA Events

Provides for searching for events stored in FTA Event Library files. This option is available when an FTA pane is selected in the System file.

Prediction Parts

Provides for searching for parts stored in Prediction Parts Library files. This option is available when a Prediction pane is selected in the System file.

You can insert a Prediction Parts Library part into a System file or a Prediction Correlation Library file.

RBD Blocks

Provides for searching for blocks stored in RBD Block Library files. This option is available when an RBD pane is selected in the System file.

RBD Diagrams

Provides for searching for block diagrams stored in RBD Diagram Library files. This option is available when an RBD pane is selected in the System file.

RBD Maintenance Tasks

Provides for searching for maintenance tasks stored in RBD Maintenance Library files. This option is available when an RBD pane is selected in the System file.

While you cannot open EPRD or NPRD Libraries, you can open the other library files that are referenced in the preceding table. All of these files look similar to System files, but they are limited in functionality. You can copy these library files into the Common Library so that you can enable them for use in multiple Projects. However, you cannot open them from the Common Library because the formatting of these files requires that they be tied to support files, such as Data Definition, Table Format, Form Design, and List Library files, which exist only within a standard Project.
