Inserting an EPRD or NPRD Library Part as a Block
You can insert an EPRD or NPRD part in the active block diagram using the Library Browse window. As indicated in NPRD and EPRD Libraries, the EPRD Library is available only if the 217Plus or PRISM reliability prediction calculation model is licensed. The NPRD Library is always available. For more information, see Library Browse Window.
1. In the RBD Table, select the record for the diagram.
2. In the standard toolbar, click Browse Libraries.
Browse Library Button
The Library Browse window opens in the pinned mode.
3. For Search for, do one of the following:
To search the EPRD Library, select EPRD Parts. If this choice is unavailable, neither the 217Plus nor PRISM model is licensed.
To search the NPRD Library, select NPRD Parts. This choice is always available.
4. Complete the search criteria fields for the EPRD or NPRD part search.
For EPRD parts, the fields are Category, Subcategory, Subtype 1, Subtype 2, Quality, Environment, and Hermeticity. For descriptions, see EPRD Parts Search Criteria.
For NPRD parts, the fields are Category and Subcategory. For descriptions, see NPRD Parts Search Criteria.
5. When finished, click Search or press Enter to initiate the search.
Search Button
6. In the Results window, which displays all EPRD or NPRD parts that meet the filter criteria specified, select the part or parts to insert.
To select contiguous parts, click the first part and then drag the mouse until all of the desired parts are selected. To select noncontagious parts, press and hold down Ctrl while clicking the desired parts.
7. When all parts to insert are selected, in the Results window, click Insert to insert them into the active diagram as blocks.
The blocks for all selected parts are inserted in the upper right corner of the RBD Diagram pane. The Library Browse window remains open in case you want to insert additional parts.
8. When you are finished inserting parts, close the Library Browse window by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
On the General and Failure pages in the Calculation Properties windows for these blocks, the part data retrieved from the EPRD or NPRD Library is shown.
The part number for the new block is the part number for the EPRD or NPRD part.
The distribution for the new block is Exponential, with a failure rate equal to the failure rate for the NPRD or EPRD part.
The assembly name for the new block is the category and subcategory for the EPRD or NPRD part, separated by a hyphen.
The description for the new block is the quality and environment for the EPRD or NPRD part, separated by a comma.
The library identifier for the new block is empty.

The standard Windows drag-and-drop technique can be used to insert an NPRD or EPRD part shown in the Library Browse window into either the RBD Diagram pane or the RBD Blocks pane. In the Library Browse window, click in the left-most column for the part and drag the mouse cursor over to the desired RBD pane. A part icon is attached to the cursor. If you drag the part over to the RBD Diagram pane, in the area of the diagram where you want to place the block, release the mouse button to insert the block. If you drag the part over to the RBD Blocks pane, when you release the mouse button, the block is inserted in the upper left corner of the diagram.
