As your business can deal with a variety of products, you would need to capture a wide range of different data for your installed base. While the Installed Product object can help capture common attributes such as serial number, date of installation, and status, it might be cumbersome to create new custom fields that are specific to a certain product or a group of products. The Technical Attributes feature provides the ability to record and maintain data for such specific attributes, and eliminates the need to create multiple custom fields that would be used only sparingly.

Technical Attributes are defined as templates for a Product, Product Line, or Product Family, and applied for installed products belonging to them. A Technical Attributes template can have multiple attributes defined in it, along with an optional default value for each attribute. This enables the technician to record, update, view, and track values for these attributes of an installed product record. Additionally, technicians can use these values as reference values for the installed product and also record any further changes in the values for analysis.
