IoT Setup for Administrators in 23.2
ServiceMax's IoT Setup allows you to configure IoT events and define IB's unique identifier.
Go to ServiceMax Setup Home > Connected Field Service > IoT Setup to configure:
• IoT Events - Various events that are supported, and the class names of the web service to be invoked on their occurrence.
• Installed Product Lookup - Mapping between one or more fields in your platform that form the unique external identifier to a unique field in ServiceMax's Installed Product object.
Setting up the integration between the IoT platform and ServiceMax
• Prerequisites to connect to the IoT platform:
◦ Create rules and conditions on your platform, to identify the event occurrence and initiate a request to ServiceMax.
◦ Develop the necessary setup to invoke the correct IoT event in ServiceMax, and pass all the required data in the defined format.
• Invoke ServiceMax Standard Events for creating records. You can invoke a ServiceMax IoT event using its REST endpoint URI and pass the required request payload. For specific endpoints of the standard IoT events and expected request payload, see
Standard Events.
• Develop custom events in ServiceMax if the standard events do not meet your business requirements:
◦ Develop the required web services. For more information, see
IoT Events.
◦ Associate the event names to corresponding web services. For more information, see
IoT Setup.
◦ Optionally, configure mapping between any Installed Product field and your product's/asset's fields to uniquely identify install products in ServiceMax. For more information, see
Installed Product Lookup Setup.
