About Insets
Insets are images inside a figure that add graphical information about regions of interest in the figure. They can show magnified or reduced views of figure content, such as parts or assemblies. Their appearance properties are set independent of the figure. Insets retain their size when the camera zooms in or out. This helps distinguish insets from other content in the figure.
Insets can also contain captions that provide information about the figure.
You insert predefined or custom insets from the insets gallery. When you insert insets in the figure they also appear in the upper data panel View Content list. Selecting an inset in either the figure window or the View Content list selects it in both places.
When the gallery is locked you cannot add, edit or delete any insets in the gallery.
Any insets you insert in a figure are saved with that figure in the illustration C3DI file. When you save or publish figures to a third party file format, all insets are included in the saved or published files.
