Editing User Preferences
The following table explains the preferences available from the File > Preferences menu:

Description
Default Configuration Specification View
The product structure view specified is used by the default configuration specification to expand part or product versions within Product Structure Explorer or when viewing the structure in HTML.

This preference can also be set on the HTML pages under Home > Utilities > Preferences under the Configuration Specification tab.
Number of Most Recently Used Entries
The number of parts you have recently opened in Product Structure Explorer that display at the bottom of the File menu. You can click on a part in this list to open it in Product Structure Explorer without having to browse the database for it.
Multi Value Separator
The separator character(s) used when displaying multiple values in a single field. The default character is a semicolon (;).
Look and Feel
Modify the appearance of Product Structure Explorer. For example, the color changes when you select the different options.
Measurement System
The measurement system that you want to work with in Product Structure Explorer: SI , USCS , CGS , or MKS.
Check-out At Creation
Select No if you do not want objects to be automatically checked out when they are created.
Select Yes if you want objects to be automatically checked out when they are created.
Open in New Windows
Select Always if you always want the system to open a new Product Structure Explorer window when opening a new structure.
Select Never if you always want a new structure to replace the structure you are currently viewing in Product Structure Explorer.
Select Ask if you want the system to prompt you each time, so you can select whether or not you want to open a new Product Structure Explorer window.
Automatically Select Top Node
Select Yes if you want the Product Structure Explorer to open with the top assembly part of the structure selected. The tabs in the right pane are populated with the information for the selected part.
Select No if you do not want any part selected when the Product Structure Explorer opens.
Launch Mode
The mode in which the Product Structure Explorer opens each time a new window is launched. For more information on draft and edit mode, see About Explorer Modes.
Display Viewer Message Feedback
Select whether or not you want feedback messages to display when you are working in the View tab.
Check In Deferred Changes After Apply
Select Yes if you want the system to automatically check in objects after you apply an annotation set or draft.
Select No if you want modified objects to remain checked out after an apply operation. Then you can manually check in the modified objects at a later time.
Close Structure After Changes Are Applied
Select Yes if you want the explorer window to close after you have applied an annotation set or draft.
Select No if you want the explorer window to remain open after you have applied an annotation set or draft to the system.
Data Entry Results Threshold
The number of options that appear when you enter data in a table cell in order to search for an object. The default is 10. The maximum value is 50. For more information, see Adding Data in a Table Cell.
Reset Warning/Information Dialogs
In some explorer messages, you have the option to select a check box to hide future warnings or messages. If you had selected the check box, click Reset to begin displaying the warnings and messages again.
Reset Column/Window Layout Preferences
If you modified the column details in any of the tables in the explorer, click Reset to return to the default display.
Click either OK or Cancel to close the window. If you made any changes to the preferences, clicking OK saves them; clicking Cancel does not.
