Managing Settings
Several key Zinc settings are configured at the Organization level, including Clear and High Security Mode.
The Clear setting defines how long to retain Zinc Messages, which allows for increased organizational security by systematic Message deletion after specified periods of time. After the time interval you configure passes, Messages are permanently deleted from Zinc servers and are nonrecoverable. All text, photos, videos, files, and audio Messages are deleted. The Clear setting you specify at the Organization level on the Settings tab in the Admin Console is the default for every Message sent or received by someone in your Organization.
*
Clear settings can also be defined at the Official Group level, which overrides the overall Organization setting, but does not affect Message deletion for ad hoc Groups or one-on-one Conversations. Additionally, in cases where users belong to two Organizations that are configured with different Clear settings, their Conversations are retained for the longer of the two specified time intervals.
High Security Mode (HSM) disables certain messaging functionality for security purposes. For businesses that communicate ultra-sensitive information, such as Protected Health Information, this setting is critical. HSM primarily disables the following features:
Export Conversation: The ability for Zinc users to send transcripts of Conversations to themselves is removed, which ensures that high-value information does not leave Zinc.
Lock Screen Notification Details: Previews of push notification message content are removed from users' lock screens, and simply read Person A has sent you a message.
To activate HSM for your organization, contact Zinc customer support.
