Configuring Field-Level Access Control
In addition to object-level and record-level access control, you can also configure field-level access control to define which Users, Roles, and Groups are granted rights to access or update individual fields within those objects. After access control is configured for fields, only authorized users can view those related field values. All other users see (hidden) labels in those fields, or NULL values in those fields in charts and APIs.
*
Users who have the System Administrator role always have access to restricted fields, regardless of the permissions granted to them individually or through their Roles or Groups.
To configure field-level access control:
1. In Max Designer, on the Developer Tools () launchpad menu, click Fields, and then in the list view, click the Field record for which you want to enable field-level access control.
2. On the record page, on the Access Control tab, select the Access Control check box, and then in the top left corner, click Save ().
3. In the Authorized Users list view, in the top left corner, click Link (), and then in the list, select the users to whom you want to grant access to this field.
4. In the top left corner, click Link Selected Records (), and then in the Authorized Roles and Authorized Groups lists, select and link Roles and Groups in the same manner
5. In the top left corner, click Save and Close (), and then in the Development Actions () launchpad menu, click Synchronize.
