Parts Management for Investigation Solutions
Capture and manage the components needed to deliver a resolution directly on an Investigation Solution that is not linked to a Work Plan, so Remote Service Engineers can recommend parts before a Work Order debrief without leaving the investigation workflow.
Parts enable Remote Service Engineers (RSEs) to capture and manage components required for a resolution directly within an Investigation Solution. This capability is available only for Solutions that are not associated with a Work Plan.
RSEs can add, view, update, and remove parts to reflect the components required to complete a service action. Parts are available directly on the Solution, allowing users to review and manage required components without leaving the investigation workflow.
Use Cases
Recommending parts for a Solution when no Work Plan exists
Role: Remote Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer
A Remote Service Engineer (RSE) at Iniscope International reviews a Soniscape SSI 1000 fault at Life Line where no Work Plan covers the procedure. The RSE adds the likely replacement parts, such as the transducer cable and imaging module, directly to the Solution so the Field Service Engineer (FSE) arrives on site with a recommended parts list. The FSE later records the parts actually used during Work Order debrief, so the Solution remains a recommendation source rather than a debrief record.

Use Cases for Investigations.
Parts Display and Actions on a Solution
Parts are available on a Solution only when the Solution is not associated with a Work Plan.
• When no parts are added, the Solution displays an Add Parts link.
• Selecting Add Parts opens the Add Parts window, where parts can be selected and added.
• After parts are added, the link changes to Parts (n), where n indicates the number of parts associated with the Solution.
• Hovering over the Parts (n) link displays a preview of parts and quantities and provides access to Manage Parts.
• Selecting Manage Parts opens the Manage Parts window, where parts can be added, updated, or removed.
Search Behavior
The Add Parts and Manage Parts windows load up to 200 parts. When a required part is not in the initially loaded list, the following search behavior applies:
• Type the part name in the search field and press Enter to run the search. Typing alone does not return results beyond the initially loaded items.
• After the search runs, the keyword remains in the search field.
• Removing the keyword does not reset the list. To reset the results, change or reapply the product filter.
Filtering Behavior
The Add Parts and Manage Parts windows provide filtering options to display only relevant parts.
Product Structure filtering
• When Product Structure filter is enabled, the Filter by Product dropdown in the Add Parts or Manage Parts window defaults to the Product's structure, displaying only parts within that structure.
• When Product Structure filter is enabled but no structure exists for the Product Structure, the Filter by Product dropdown displays the product itself without any parts.
• When Product Structure filter is not enabled, Show All Products is selected by default in the Add Parts or Manage Parts window and all available parts are displayed.
Expression-based filtering
Administrator can set up expression-based filtering to control which parts appear in the Add Parts or Manage Parts window. When expression-based filtering is applied, only parts that match the defined criteria are available for selection.
• When Show All Products is selected in the Add Parts or Manage Parts window, only parts that match the expression-based filtering criteria are displayed.
For example, if the expression is set to the Medical Imaging Equipment product family, only imaging-related parts such as transducer cables, imaging modules, and display assemblies are displayed.
• When the product is selected in the Filter by Product dropdown in the Add Parts or Manage Parts window, either by default or manually, only parts matching the expression-based filtering criteria appear within that product's structure. Selecting Show All Products displays all parts that match the expression across all products.
For example, if the expression is set to the Medical Imaging Equipment product family and you select a specific product such as Soniscape SSI 1000, only imaging-related parts within the SSI 1000 structure are displayed. Selecting Show All Products displays all imaging-related parts across all products.
