Error Messages
Error messages appear in Service Flow Manager (SFM) Delivery when Data Validation Rules (DVRs) detect invalid or incomplete data during record validation. These messages identify the fields that must be corrected before the record can be saved. Error messages help ensure that records comply with the validation rules configured for the application. The way error messages appear and how users navigate to the affected fields depends on the delivery interface and theme.
SFM Lightning Delivery
In SFM Lightning Delivery, error messages are displayed in an error banner anchored at the top of the page.
An error icon appears next to the Save button and indicates the number of validation errors detected in the record. Selecting the icon expands the banner and displays the heading Review the Errors (n), where n represents the total number of errors.
The banner lists validation errors detected in both the header and child sections of the SFM.
Each error entry identifies the field associated with the validation error and may include a hyperlink that navigates to the corresponding field.
For errors that occur in child sections, the message displays the child tab name followed by the field name, helping users identify the location of the error.
If a Data Validation Rule references a single field, the message displays the child tab name followed by the field name. If a Data Validation Rule references multiple fields, the child tab name appears once followed by a list of the participating fields associated with the rule. The list of fields can be expanded or collapsed to show or hide the participating fields.
Error messages are automatically expanded when displayed, and the banner can be closed if required.
Error messages are generated when Data Validation Rules (DVRs) evaluate the data entered in the record. Depending on the Real-Time Data Validation setting, these rules may be evaluated either when the record is saved or when a user exits a field during data entry. For more information about how the Real-Time Data Validation setting affects validation behavior, see Real-Time DVR Setting Behavior for Errors.
Classic Theme
In SFM Classic Theme, error messages appear in the right-side error panel.
When an invalid value is entered in a field, an error message appears below the corresponding field. Fields that contain validation errors are highlighted in red to help identify the issue.
The error panel displays the list of validation errors and provides hyperlinks that navigate to the related fields.
If a field referenced in a validation rule is not included in the page layout, the field name appears in the error message but does not appear as a hyperlink. All validation errors must be resolved before the record can be saved.
Lightning Theme
In SFM Lightning Theme, error messages appear in a scrollable error message panel anchored at the top of the page. The panel displays the heading Review the Errors (n), where n represents the number of validation errors.
Each error entry identifies the field that triggered the validation rule and provides navigation to the related field.
