Business Context for Linked SFM
For a work order that records details of servicing a single product (Component) at a location, the standard SFM transaction Manage Work Order Lines – Usage enables capturing T&M (Time and Materials) details such as Parts, Labor, Expense, and Travel.
However, when there are multiple products serviced at a location and these need to be tracked using a single work order, the above mentioned SFM transaction is not sufficient. Each product serviced and the associated T& M details should be captured in Work Detail records, where the T&M (Usage/Consumption) records have a logical master/detail relationship with the corresponding Products Serviced records.
For smooth business flow, a technician should be able to do the following:
Add a Products Serviced record and capture the T&M details for that record.
Repeat the same for each product serviced, with seamless navigation between two SFM transactions.
A technician should not be required to use the primary SFM to add all the Products Serviced records, and then navigate to the Salesforce screen of each Products Serviced record and add T&M details.
The above requirements are met by the OOTB SFM transaction Add/Edit Products Serviced, with its linked process configuration.
