You can create a Variation Point through any diagram or a Modeler pane.
To create a variation point through a diagram:
1. Open the diagram on which you want to create the Variation Point.
2. On the Variant Diagram or Variability toolbar, click the Variation Point button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
3. Type the name of the Variation Point, and then press the Enter key.
4. Open the Variation Point's Property Pages, and on the Text tab, type a description of the Variation Point.
The Description you type will appear in the Variant Selector.
5. By default, the Variation Point is set up as mandatory. If you want to set up the Variation Point as optional:
a. Open the Variation Point's Property Pages
b. Click the Options tab.
c. Clear the Mandatory check box.
6. By default, the Variation Point is set up as an external Variation Point. If you want to set up the Variation Point as an internal Variation Point:
a. Open the Variation Point's Property Pages.
b. Click the Options tab.
c. Clear the External check box.
To create a variation point through a Modeler pane:
1. In an appropriate Modeler pane, right-click the Package or Model in which you want to create the Variation Point, point to New, point to Variability, and then click Variation Point.
2. Type the name of the Variation Point, and then press the Enter key.
3. Open the Variation Point's Property Pages, and on the Text tab, type a description of the Variation Point.
The Description you type will appear in the Variant Selector.
4. By default, the Variation Point is set up as mandatory. If you want to set up the Variation Point as optional:
a. Open the Variation Point's Property Pages.
b. Click the Options tab.
c. Clear the Mandatory check box.
