Creating a variability dependency
You can create a Variability Dependency between a Variation Point and a Variant, or between an Alternative Choice and a Variant.
For information about including existing Variability Dependencies in an Alternative Choice, see the related links below.
To create a variability dependency between a variation point and a variant:
1. Open the diagram on which you want to create the Variability Dependency.
2. Ensure that the Variation Point and the Variant you want to link are shown on the diagram. For more information, see Adding an existing variant to a diagram and Adding an existing variation point to a diagram
3. On the Variant Diagram or Variability toolbar, click the Mandatory Variability Dependency button, or the Optional Variability Dependency button.
4. Click the Variation Point.
5. Click the Variant.
*
You can add a Variability Dependency between a Variation Point and Variant only if no Variability Dependency exists between the two items, either directly or via an Alternative Choice.
To create a variability dependency between an alternative choice and a variant:
1. Open the diagram on which you want to create the Variability Dependency.
2. Ensure that the Alternative Choice and the Variant you want to link are shown on the diagram. For more information, see Adding an existing alternative choice to a diagram and Adding an existing variant to a diagram.
3. On the Variant Diagram or Variability toolbar, click the Optional Variability Dependency button.
4. Click the Alternative Choice.
5. Click the Variant.

You can add a Variability Dependency between an Alternative Choice and Variant only if no Variability Dependency exists between the Alternative Choice's Variation Point and the Variant, either directly or via an Alternative Choice.
