Customizing a Publisher style's headers, footers and Word styles (Publisher)
The wordml.template.xml template defines the presentation of the Word document, and the content of headers and footers.
Important:
We recommend that you do not change the headers and footers of the provided Publisher Styles, but instead create a new Publisher Style and make the changes to that.
If you use Word to change the XML template, perform a Save operation. If you perform a Save As operation, ensure that you choose Word 2003 XML as the format.
To customize a Publisher style's headers, footers and Word styles:
1. Locate the Word template you want to change:
a. The Publisher Style folders reside in subfolders of the following folder.
C:\ProgramData\PTC Integrity Modeler\Publisher\Stylesheets\DocumentGeneration\CustomDocBook
b. In the folder for the appropriate Publisher Style, locate the wordml.template.xml file that resides in the following folder:
\DocumentGeneration\CustomDocBook\<Publisher Style folder>\Word\Current
2. In Word, open the wordml.template.xml file.
3. Change the content of the headers, footers and Word styles as appropriate:
The first page is a place holder for the title page and must not be change. The second page determines how odd pages appear, the third page determines how even pages appear.
If you want to change the appearance of text in the generated document, change the appropriate Word style in the template.
In the headers and footers, change the existing text, and add new text and graphics as required.
The following Word fields are replaced with text when generated. You can move these fields to different places, change the format of their associated Word Styles, and delete them if they are not required; but you must not change the text of the field.
<Document.Number>, <Publish.Date> and <Footer.text.center>
For information about including other document properties in generated documents, refer to Including document properties in generated Word document.
For information about changing Word templates, please see the Word help.
4. Save the changes you have made to the Word template.
Important: If you are using Word, perform a Save operation. If you perform a Save As operation, ensure that you choose Word 2003 XML as the format.
