Static Analysis of Models with Large Deformation

In a static analysis with large deformation, Creo Simulate calculates geometrically nonlinear static results. See Large Deformation Static Analysis Overview for a description of and requirements for large deformation static analysis.

To define a static analysis with large deformation, select the following options on the Static Analysis Definition dialog box:

• Nonlinear / use load histories—If your model has nonlinearities this check box is selected by default. The Nonlinear options area is displayed. The cause of nonlinearity is highlighted in the Nonlinear options area.

• Calculate large deformations—Calculates large deformations in the model. If your model has nonlinear materials, that is elastoplastic or hyperelastic materials, this check box is selected by default. For a model with hyperelastic materials, you cannot clear this check box as large deformations are always calculated for models with hyperelastic materials. Select this check box if your model has contact interfaces and you want to run a static analysis with large deformation. If your model has elastoplastic materials and you want to run a finite plasticity analysis you must select this check box.

If you run a static analysis with small deformation and the value of the strain measures are much larger than its linear approximation then you should consider running the analysis with Calculate large deformations selected. You can review the values of the strain measures for the analysis in the summary rpt file.

• Constraints—Allows you to select one or more constraint sets.

• Loads—Allows you to select one or more load sets unless you are using a constraint set with an enforced displacement.

You must also select items on the following tabs on the Static Analysis Definition dialog box to define a static analysis with large deformation:

• Output
