Links Page
The Links page in the Calculation Properties window for a block allows you to set or remove a data link or a diagram link or indicate if the block is a repeat. The following table describes the properties on the Links page.
Property
Description
Data linking
The properties under this heading allow you to link the block to another item in a different module. General information about data links appears in Data Links.
[Status]
Indicates the data link status for the block. The data link status can be any of the following:
This block is not linked to data in another module.
This block is linked to ALT.
This block is linked to FMEA.
This block is linked to FRACAS.
This block is linked to Prediction.
This block is linked to Weibull.
When clicked, the Link Data window opens. You use this window to link a block to data in one of the following modules: ALT, FMEA, FRACAS, Prediction, or Weibull. For more information, see Linking a Block to an Item in Another Module. If the block has a diagram link, this button is unavailable.
When clicked, the data link is removed. This button is available only when the block has a data link.
Diagram linking
The properties under this heading allow you to link the block to another diagram in the RBD module.
[Status]
Indicates the diagram link status for the block. The diagram link status of a block can be:
This block is not linked to another diagram.
This block is linked to X, where X is the identifier for the diagram.
When clicked, the Select Diagram Link window opens. You use this window to link a block to another diagram. For more information, see Select Diagram Link Window. To set a diagram link, see Linking a Block to Another Diagram. If the block has a data link, this button is unavailable.
When clicked, the diagram link is removed. This button is available only when the block has a diagram link.
Repeated blocks
The properties under this heading allow you to indicate whether the block is a repeat of another block in the diagram. If a block represents the same physical unit as another block in the diagram, you must set a repeat link so it is accounted for only once in RBD calculations. The interactions that are possible for repeated blocks are described in Interactions of Links and Repeat Blocks.
[Status]
Indicates the repeat status for the block. The repeat status of a block can be:
This block is not repeated.
This block is a repeat of X, where X is the identifier for the block.
This block is repeated by X, where X is the identifier for the block.
When clicked, the Set Repeated Block window opens. You use this window to indicate that the block is a repeated occurrence of another block in the diagram. For more information, see Specifying a Block is a Repeat. If the block has a data link, a diagram link, or has repeats, this button is unavailable.
When clicked, the Repeat of designation is removed. This button is available only when the block is a repeat of another block. For more information, see Removing a ‘Repeat of’ Designation.
When you click OK to save your changes to this block’s Calculation Properties window, in the diagram, the block indicates if it has a data link, diagram link, or is a repeat of another block.
Other methods exist for setting a data link or diagram link or for indicating if a block is a repeat. For more information, see:
