Using the Drag-and-Drop Technique to Insert a Block that is Data Linked
In a diagram, you can insert a block that is data linked to an assembly or part in the System Tree (Prediction or FRACAS) using the standard Windows drag-and-drop technique. For more information, see
Data Links.
1. If the System Tree containing the assembly or part is not visible, use the
Module Selections toolbar to select the checkbox for the FRACAS or Prediction module. For more information, see
Module Selections Toolbar.
2. In the RBD Table, select the record for the diagram.
3. In the System Tree Items table, click the row selector for the assembly or part to insert as a data-linked block.
4. One the row is selected, left-click its row selector again and then hold down the left mouse button while dragging the assembly or part into the RBD Diagram pane.
5. In the area where you want to place the block, release the left mouse button.

7. To hide the windows for the FRACAS or Prediction module, use the Module Selections toolbar to clear the checkbox for the module.
In the
Calculation Properties window for the data-linked block, the
Links page displays a status message of either
Linked to Prediction or
Linked to FRACAS to show that the block is linked to a system tree item. For more information, see
Links Page.
You can also data link any block that has already been inserted in a diagram to an item in another module. For more information, see
Linking a Block to an Item in Another Module.
