License Management
Windchill Risk and Reliability uses FlexLM, the most popular license manager in the software industry. As part of the installation, the Setup program asks if you need to install the PTC License Service. Additionally, it asks you to specify the host server name and communications port number for the license server to which to connect.
• If you are already using the PTC License Service for PTC software products, you do not need to install it again. However, before installing Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0.0.0, you must update the existing service to use the PTC License Pack that includes the licensing codes for Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0.0.0 products. After the service is updated, you install Windchill Risk and Reliability, clearing the checkbox for installing the PTC License Service.

• If you are not yet using the PTC License Service for PTC software products, during the Windchill Risk and Reliability installation, you must select the checkbox for installing this service. For more information, see Obtaining and Installing a New License for Windchill Risk and Reliability.
The shipment confirmation letter that you received before your software provides instructions for using your Sales Order Number (SON) to request a License Pack. The License Pack contains the necessary codes for licensing Windchill Risk and Reliability products at your site. Additionally, you must know the server host name, IP (Internet Protocol) address, or fully qualified domain host name for the computer on which you want to install the PTC License Service.
During the installation of the PTC License Service, you specify a destination folder and supply the license information in your License Pack. Once the PTC License Service is installed successfully, the Windchill Risk and Reliability installation continues.
