Special Fields for Associating Records with Control Plans
The following tables all have special fields for associating records with control plans: FMEA Tree Items, FMEA Worksheet, Global Attributes, and Control Plans. If these fields are not already present, you can use the Format Builder to insert them. For more information, see Using the Format Builder to Modify an Enabled Table.
For FMEA Tree Items records or FMEA Worksheet records, you use the Controls field.
For Global Attributes records, you use the FMEA Control Plans field. The Global Attributes table is shown only when a System file is created from a Windchill product and you have a Windchill integration license for CTQ (critical to quality) characteristic management. For more information, see Managing Global Attribute Data.
For FMEA Control Plans records, you use the FMEA Tree Items field and Causes fields.

In the Project’s Data Definition file, you can assign custom user prompts to the special fields for the following tables: FMEA Tree Items, FMEA Worksheet, and FMEA Control Plans. The special field for the Global Attributes table always uses the plural name for the FMEA Control Plans table. The default is FMEA Control Plans. For more information, see Specifying Table Settings. The explanations in this topic assume that the default names are in use.
When you click a field for associations, a browse button becomes available.
Clicking the browse button for the Controls field or FMEA Control Plans field opens the Associated FMEA Control Plans window, where you can see all existing control plans and indicate those that are to be associated with the record, You can also insert a new control plan, which is automatically associated with the record. For more information, see Associated FMEA Control Plans Window.
Clicking the browse button for the FMEA Tree Items field or Causes field opens the Records Associated with ‘X’ window. The ‘X’ is the value from the display field for the currently selected record. The default display field for the FMEA Control Plans table is Control Plan Identifier. In this window, you can see all records in the FMEA Tree Items and FMEA Worksheet tables associated with the control plan. You can also delete existing associations and create new associations. For more information, see Records Associated with ‘X’ Window.
Clicking the browse button for the Associated Attributes field opens the Associated Attributes window, where you can see all Windchill global attributes and indicate those that are to be associated with the control plan. For more information, see Associated Attributes Window.
If you later turn off the FMEA Control Plans table in the Project properties, the special fields for associations are no longer available.
For Controls, you can import and export data to create associations in either the FMEA Tree Items or FMEA Worksheet table. For FMEA Control Plans, you can only export data from the Global Attributes table. For general information, see Importing and Exporting.
When you export data for Controls or FMEA Control Plans, you include the table identifier (such as System Tree Item Identifier) and the Controls or FMEA Control Plans field. For each record, the target file contains a comma-separated list of control plan identifiers. For example, if you exported data from the FMEA Tree Items table, the target file contains the System Tree Item identifier and then the identifiers for the associated control plans, such as: ControlPlan3, ControlPlan5.
When you import data for Controls, the source file must contain record identifiers for the table into which you want to import and a comma-separated lists of control plan identifiers for creating associations. During the import, all control plan identifiers for existing associations are removed from the record, and new associations are created. For example, if the existing control plan identifiers for the first FMEA Tree Items record are ControlPlan3 and ControlPlan5, but the comma-separated list of control plan identifiers is ControlPlan3, ControlPlan6, then the finished record is only associated with ControlPlan3 and ControlPlan6. You can remove all existing associations in the FMEA Tree Items or FMEA Worksheet table by importing a blank field. An invalid identifier in the comma-separated list is ignored.
A similar set of special fields exist for associating records with DVPs. For more information, see Special Fields for Associating Records with DVPs.
