Special Fields for Associating Records with DVPs
The following tables all have a special field for associating record with DVPs: FMEA Tree Items, FMEA Worksheet, Global Attributes, and DVPs. If these fields are not already present, you can use the Format Builder to insert them. For more information, see Using the Format Builder to Modify an Enabled Table.
For FMEA Tree Items records or FMEA Worksheet records, you use the DVPs field.
For Global Attributes records, you use the FMEA DVPs field. The Global Attributes table is shown only when a System file is created from a Windchill product and you have a Windchill integration license for CTQ (critical to quality) characteristic management. For more information, see Managing Global Attribute Data.
For FMEA DVPs records, you use the FMEA Tree Items and Causes fields.

In the Project’s Data Definition file, you can assign custom user prompts to the special fields for the following tables: FMEA Tree Items, FMEA Worksheet, and FMEA DVPs. The special field for the Global Attributes table always uses the plural name for the FMEA DVPs table. The default is FMEA DVPs. For more information, see Specifying Table Settings. The explanations in this topic assume that the default names are in use.
When you click the field for setting up DVP associations, a browse button becomes available. Clicking the browse button opens the Associated FMEA DVPs window, where you can see all existing DVPs and indicate those that are to be associated with the record. In this window, you can also insert a new DVP, which is automatically associated with the record. For more information, see Associated FMEA DVPs Window.
If you later turn off the FMEA DVPs table in the Project properties, the special fields for associations are no longer available.
For DVPs, you can import and export data to create associations in either the FMEA Tree Items or FMEA Worksheet table. For FMEA DVPs, you can only export data from the Global Attributes table. For general information, see Importing and Exporting.
When you export data for DVPs or FMEA DVPs, you include the table identifier (such as System Tree Item Identifier) and the DVPs or FMEA DVPs field. For each record, the target file contains a comma-separated list of DVP identifiers. For example, if you exported data from the FMEA Tree Items table, the target file contains the System Tree Item identifier and then the identifiers for the associated DVPs, such as: Report1, Report2, Report 5.
When you import data for DVPs, the source file must contain record identifiers for the table into which to import and a comma-separated lists of DVP identifiers for creating associations. During the import, all DVP identifiers for existing associations are removed from the record, and new associations are created. For example, if the existing DVP identifiers for the first FMEA Tree Items record are Report1, Report2, and Report5, but the comma-separated list of DVP identifiers is Report1, Report3, then the finished record is only associated with Report1 and Report3. You can remove all existing associations in the FMEA Tree Items or FMEA Worksheet table by importing a blank field. An invalid identifier in the comma-separated list is ignored.
