Configuring Visibility and Permissions in Dashboards
By default, ThingWorx is secure, so non-administrative users and user groups have access to nothing until it is specifically granted.
Errors will be generated if the visibility and permissions are not configured.
Generally, 404 Server Errors that indicate an object does not exist are usually produced because the user does not have visibility to the Thing they are attempting to access.
If the error refers to a user being “not authorized,” it is usually due to the lack of permissions. Configuring visibility and permissions for design time and run time is described in detail below.
The following general rules apply to dashboards:
If you are the owner of a dashboard, you get edit rights for that dashboard.
If you are an Administrator, you get edit rights for any dashboard.
If you've been given update design time permissions for DashboardFunctions, you get edit rights for any dashboard.
Refer to the Dashboard Configuration section for detailed steps on configuring permissions for dashboards.
