Matching records are missing from search results.
Sometimes records that match search criteria are missing from search results because the specified Maximum Search Results value is smaller than the total number of records that match the criteria. When the maximum is reached, search stops, and only the maximum number of results are returned.
The Maximum Search Results field value specifies the maximum number of records returned for full-text searches, option lists that include Relationship or Dynamic Relationship fields, and change log URL queries. Values can range from 50 to 1,000, and the default is 200.
Expected field values are missing from search results.
Field records that have the Include in Global Search option disabled are excluded from search results.
Contact your system administrator to check whether the Field records which store the missing expected values have this option enabled. Depending on your unique business needs, it may or may not be possible to have this option enabled for the fields whose values you wish to include in search results.
Search times out.
In some cases, search times out and incomplete results are returned because the specified Maximum Search Timeout value is shorter than the time needed to complete the search. When search execution time exceeds this value, search stops, and results found before the timeout are returned.
The Maximum Search Timeout field value specifies the maximum acceptable processing time for full-text search execution. Values can range from 1 to 30 seconds, and the default is 3 seconds.
Typeahead search suggestions do not appear.
Sometimes typeahead search suggestions do not appear when you enter character strings into the search box because the Typeahead Search Timeout value is set to 0, which means it is disabled.
The Typeahead Search Timeout field value specifies the maximum acceptable processing for search suggestions. Suggestion processing stops when this value is reached.
