Special or Legacy Submodules
An important point to note about standard submodules is that all the standard inventory processes such as Process Shipments (Basic) for Shipment Order, Post to Inventory-Stock Transfer, and Post to Inventory-Work Order Usage are internally represented as submodules. However, the settings listed under each such submodule must be managed using the Inventory Processes configuration screen, and not the Settings /Configuration Profiles configuration screens. This provides enhanced context for all the configurable options and ensures configuration data consistency.
There is another key fact about standard submodules under modules related key ServiceMax objects such as Case, Parts Order, WorkOrder, and so on. These legacy submodules were introduced when each associated functionality was realized through purpose-built Visual force and Apex utilities. This can be seen by the suffix VF (indicating Visualforce) in the names of several submodules. With the introduction of SFM (Service Flow Manager), most of these purpose-built utilities have been replaced with standard SFM transactions. This has also moved most of the configurability from the submodule & settings to the SFM transaction definition. However, some of the settings are still being used, and these are called out in the help documentation section that lists the standard SFM transactions.
