Defining Work Rule Templates
To keep assets healthy, multiple maintenance schedules running at different frequencies on a single Maintenance Plan are often needed. Work Rule Templates are defined for multiple maintenance schedules running at different frequencies for each Maintenance Plan or each maintenance asset assigned to a maintenance plan. When creating a Maintenance Work Rule Template for a maintenance plan template, a user may define
work rule details such as Work Type, Sort Order, Recurrence Pattern, or Criteria.
The following are some of the use cases of Work Rule Templates.
Use Cases
A building maintenance company performs minor maintenance on an air conditioning system every four months and a major service, that includes the four months service tasks, once a year. The service manager sets up the minor maintenance service on its four-month schedule and the major maintenance service yearly with enhanced preventative maintenance. The minor and major maintenance services are both Work Rules defined on the Maintenance Plan.
A pool maintenance company cleans a pool monthly and applies a chemical treatment every three months. With enhanced preventative maintenance, the pool service manager sets up monthly pool cleaning jobs and adds the chemical treatment task every three months. The monthly and once in three months maintenance services are both Work Rules defined on the Maintenance Plan.
Some customers create Maintenance Plans with Work Rules only at the header level and do not specify them by Maintenance Asset. Top-Level Work Rule Templates generate Work Rules for the Maintenance Plan header and are not associated with a Maintenance Asset. In such cases, you can specify the work rule at the Maintenance Asset level.
You can define Work Rule Templates at the following levels:
