Creating Maintenance Plan Templates
To create a platform maintenance plan template:
1. Log in to the Asset 360 application with your credentials.
2. Navigate to the Maintenance Plan Templates tab. The Maintenance Plan Templates list view is displayed.
3. Click New. The New Maintenance Plan Template modal window is displayed.
4. Select Platform to create a Salesforce platform-based maintenance plan template.

You can select Asset 360 to create an Asset 360 condition-based maintenance plan template. It is recommended to use the Asset 360 condition-based maintenance plans feature, so that you are enabled with the latest functionality.
The New Maintenance Plan Template: Platform page is displayed.
5. Enter the details for the fields as described in the following table:

Fields marked with * are mandatory.
Maintenance Plan Template Name*
Name of the MPT.
Description
Description of the MPT.
Active
A checkbox to indicate whether the MPT is active or inactive. Only active templates should be used for the creation of a Maintenance Plan.
Work Order Generation Method
This field indicates how work orders are generated when more than one asset is associated with the maintenance plan. The value in this field will auto-populate a field of the same name on the Maintenance Plan.
Service Appointment Generation Method
This field indicates how service appointments are generated when more than one asset is associated with the maintenance plan, and the Work Order Generation Method is set to One work order line per asset. The value in this field will auto-populate a field of the same name on the Maintenance Plan. When the Work Order Generation Method is set to One work order per asset, then the Service Appointment Generation Method must be set to None, else the "Invalid Value" error message is displayed.
Generation Timeframe*
This field allows users to set the time in advance that work orders are generated in each batch for a Maintenance Plan. The unit of measurement is specified in the Generation Timeframe Type field. The values in both fields are mapped to the Maintenance Plan created using this MPT.
Generation Timeframe Type*
The unit of frequency for the Generation Timeframe field. The values in both this field and the Generation Timeframe field are mapped to the Maintenance Plan created using this MPT.
Maintenance Plan Duration
The intended duration of a Maintenance Plan created using this MPT. The value in this field is related to the Maintenance Plan Unit of Time field and will influence the End Date value for the Maintenance Plan created using the Maintenance record.
Maintenance Plan Unit of Time
The indicated unit of time measurement for the Maintenance Plan Duration value on a Maintenance Plan Template. The value in this field is related to the Maintenance Plan Duration field and will influence the End Date value for a Maintenance Plan created using the Template record.
Maintenance Window Start (Days)
The maintenance window represents the range of days in which a work order can be scheduled. The service appointment’s Earliest Start Permitted Date before its work order’s Suggested Maintenance Date.
Maintenance Window End (Days)
The maintenance window represents the range of days in which a work order can be scheduled—the service appointment’s Due Date after its work order’s Suggested Maintenance Date.
Work Type
This field allows users to set the work type for the Maintenance Plan record created using this Template. Work Type governs the duration, required skills and products, and linked articles inherited by work orders generated from the Maintenance Plan.
Auto-generate Work Orders
A checkbox to indicate whether Work Orders are auto-generated for the Maintenance Plan. This field will auto-populate a checkbox of the same name in the Maintenance Plan upon creation.

If this field is set to true on a Maintenance Plan, it will disable the ability to generate work orders manually.
Generate New Batch Upon Completion
This field indicates whether a Maintenance Plan should generate the new batch for Work Order Generation upon completing the last work order in the previous batch. The value in this field will auto-populate a field of the same name on the Maintenance Plan.
Generation Horizon (Days)
This field indicates the number of days before the first work order in the next batch on which work order batches are generated. This value will auto-populate in the field of the same name on the Maintenance Plan upon creation.
6. Click Save.

When an existing MPT is deleted, any Work Rule Template records and Applicable Product records associated with that template are also deleted.
