Opening a model (Model Explorer)
You can open any version of a model through Model Explorer and Modeler.
You can see and open a model only if you have Read access permissions to that model.
If a model is a Product Line Model or Product Model (it contains a Variant), you require a Product Line Model Access license to open the model.
To open a model (through Model Explorer):
1. Start Model Explorer.

2. Locate the Model you want to open:
a. Expand the SQL icon.
b. Expand the Server that owns the Model you want to open.
If the Server that owns the Model is not shown, add the Server to Model Explorer.
c. Expand the Database that owns the Model you want to open.
If the Database that owns the Model is not shown, show the server's databases and then optionally bookmark the Database.

d. If the Model you want to open is not a tip version, on the Model Explorer toolbar click the Show Versions button so that the button is depressed. You can then expand the appropriate model to find the model version you want to open.
3. Select the model you want to open, and then click Open.
Alternatively, right-click the model version and click Open, or double-click the model version you want to open.
You may be prompted to upgrade the database if the model you are opening belongs to a database that requires an upgrade. For more information on upgrading a database, see Upgrading a database.
The model is opened in Modeler.
To open a model (through Modeler):
1. In Modeler, click Model > Open Model or click Home > Open Model
2. Locate the Model you want to open:
a. Expand the SQL icon.
b. Expand the Server that owns the Model you want to open.
If the Server that owns the Model is not shown, add the Server to Model Explorer.
c. Expand the Database that owns the Model you want to open.
If the Database that owns the Model is not shown, show the server's databases and then optionally bookmark the Database.
d. If the Model you want to open is not a tip version, on the Model Explorer toolbar click the Show Versions button so that the button is depressed. You can then expand the appropriate model to find the model version you want to open.
3. Select the model you want to open, and then click Open.

The model is opened in Modeler.
