Setting access permissions for a model (Model Explorer)
You can set access permissions through Model Explorer and Modeler.
|
• You must be a Database Administrator to transfer access permissions.
• The Model access permissions work in conjunction with database options set in Model Explorer, and access permissions granted to the database and Packages within a model. Model access permissions affect whether users can open a model and whether users can maintain model items that are scoped directly by the model.

To set access permissions (through Model Explorer):
1. Start Model Explorer.
2. Locate the Model for which you want to set access permissions:
a. Expand the SQL icon.
b. Expand the Server that owns the Model for which you want to set access permissions.
If the Server that owns the Model is not shown, add the Server to Model Explorer.
c. Expand the Database that owns the Model for which you want to set access permissions.
If the Database that owns the Model is not shown, show the server's databases and then optionally bookmark the Database.
d. If the Model version for which you want to set access permissions is not a tip version, on the Model Explorer toolbar click the Show Versions button so that the button is depressed. You can then expand the appropriate model to find the model version for which you want to set access permissions.
3. Right-click the Model for which you want to set access permissions, and then click Access Permissions.
4. From the dialog, set the Public Write and Public Read check boxes as required. Grant Owner, Write and Read permissions to the required users and groups.
