StdV-2 Standards definition (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
Creation
To create an StdV-2 Standards Definition:
Right-click the Architectural Description or Service Description that is to own the StdV-2 Standards Definition, point to New, point to Diagram, point to DoDAF, and then click StdV-2 Standards Definition.
Purpose
On an StdV-2 Standards Definition:
Create Functional Standard, Standard and Technical Standard elements.
Create Forecast Span elements and child Forecast Span Literal elements.
Create Protocol elements and child Protocol Layer elements.
Create Forecast relationships.
Diagram Elements
For information about the creation and appearance of elements that can be shown on all Product diagrams (Representation, Definition, Information, Metadata, Overlap and Same As elements), see Creation and appearance of elements that appear on all product diagrams (UPDM - DoDAF aliases).
Architectural Description
To create an Architectural Description: click the Architectural Description toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
To populate elements from an Architectural Description: add the Architectural Description to the diagram, and then populate those elements from the Architectural Description.
Architectural Reference
To create an Architectural Reference: click the Architectural Reference toolbar button, click the source Architectural Description, and then click the destination Architectural Description.
Architecture Metadata
To create an Architecture Metadata: click the Architecture Metadata toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Define the text of the Architecture Metadata through its Full Text property.
To apply an Architecture Metadata to an Architectural Description: click the Note Link toolbar button, click the Architecture Metadata, and then click the Architectural Description to which the Architecture Metadata applies.
Forecast
To create a Forecast: click the
Forecast toolbar button, click the source element, and then click the destination element.
The source and destination elements must be the same type and they can be as follows: Functional Standard, Protocol, Standard or Technical Standard elements.
Forecast Span
To create a Forecast Span: click the Forecast Span toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
After creating a Forecast Span, you can create Forecast Span Literal elements for that Forecast Span.
Forecast Span Literal
To create a Forecast Span Literal: click the Forecast Span Literal toolbar button, and then click the owning Forecast Span.
To hide Forecast Span Literal elements shown on the Forecast Span: through the View Options of the owning Forecast Span, do not show Attributes.
Functional Standard
To create a Functional Standard: click the Functional Standard toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Use Forecast relationships to link the Functional Standard to forecasted future Functional Standard elements.
Protocol
To create a Protocol: click the Protocol toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
After creating a Protocol, you can create Protocol Layer elements for that Forecast Span.
Use Forecast relationships to link the Protocol to forecasted future Protocol elements.
Protocol Layer
To create a Protocol Layer:
Click the Protocol Layer toolbar button, and then click the owning Protocol. From the Select Type dialog, create or select the Protocol element that is the type of the Protocol Layer.
Click the Composite Association toolbar button, click the owning Protocol, and then click the Protocol element that is the type of the Protocol Layer. You can also create Protocol Layer elements through the Association and Uni-Directional Association toolbar buttons.
Standard
To create a Standard: click the Standard toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Use Forecast relationships to link the Standard to forecasted future Standard elements.
Technical Standard
To create a Technical Standard: click the Technical Standard toolbar button, and then click in free space on the diagram.
Use Forecast relationships to link the Technical Standard to forecasted future Technical Standard elements.
