About 2D Figures
Use a 3D figure (model) to extract 2D information to create technical illustrations for publication. You can edit 2D figures by modifying line styles or hiding and deleting parts or lines.
Changes made to 2D figures are associative. For example, if you hide a line in a 2D figure, and then make changes to the parent 3D figure, the updated 2D figure will maintain the original modifications and the hidden line will remain hidden.
To create a 2D figure, use the 2D Figure tab in the New Figure dialog box.
Setting up the Page
When you create a 2D figure, all the 3D content will be scaled and centered in the page. You cannot pan or move a 2D figure to reposition it onto the page.
When you create a 2D figure using the page from the parent 3D figure, the content remains in the same position and scale as the parent 3D figure.
Default settings for 2D figures are set in the 2D Figures page in the Creo IllustrateOptions dialog box. Use the following options in the 2D Figure dialog box to customize the settings for 2D figures:
HLR
Size
Border
Caption
For more information on customizing the settings for 2D figures, see To Customize Settings for a 2D Figure.
Publishing 2D Figures
Publish a 2D figure for viewing in other applications. Define the publishing setting in the Publish Settings dialog box.
The publish order for figures is listed in the Gallery View. To change the publishing sequence, drag and drop the thumbnails into the correct order.
Out of Sync Figures
2D figures become out of sync following changes made to the parent 3D figure or the default HLR settings. Out of sync figures are indicated in the figures list and thumbnails. Out of sync figures are regenerated automatically when opened. If your illustration contains a number of out of sync figures, you can choose to regenerate all the figures, or select the figures individually. For more information, see About Out of Sync Figures.
