To Set Cabling Specific Parameters for Connectors
When a Creo Schematics design is driving electromechanical designs created in Creo Parametric 1.0 Cabling and onwards, you must set the MODEL_NAME parameter. Other parameters are not mandatory provided that the following parameters are applied to each CSY used as a connection point in the 3D model.
ENTRY_PORT
GROUPING
INTERNAL_LENGTH
In legacy designs, Cabling requires a number of connector parameters to be set so that they are correctly designated.
1. Set the following top-level connector parameters:
Parameter
Description
MODEL_NAME
The 3D part name
DEF_INTERNAL_LEN (optional)
The internal length of the wire in the connector
DEF_GROUPING (optional)
How the wires are to be packed at the entry port
NUM_OF_PINS (optional)
The number of pins in the connector
OBJ_TYPE
The type of component
REF_DES (optional)
A unique identifier. If this parameter is not set, the value of the NAME parameter is used.
2. Note the following when you set the REF_DES parameter:
In Creo Schematics, the NAME parameter is the unique identifier within a design. In Cabling, the REF_DES parameter is the unique identifier within a HARNESS assembly.
The REF_DES parameter is optional. If this parameter is not set, the value of the NAME parameter is used in Cabling.
3. Set the port-level parameters:
Set the ENTRY_PORT parameter. This parameter defines the coordinate system on the 3D part to which the wires attach.
If a single coordinate system is being used in Cabling for all wires entering a connector, create the port symbol with the entry_port parameter set to the default value for the coordinate system name.
entry_port = cabling entry
If a coordinate system is being used in Cabling for each wire entry on the connector parts, create the port symbol with the entry_port parameter set to unset.
entry_port = unset
The user can then set the value within the block or the connector group instance.
