To Add a Label to a Fiber
1. In the Catalog Explorer or the design sheet, select the fibershape to label.
2. In the
Catalog Explorer, click
on the right of the
Shapes list or on the design sheet right-click and choose
Properties. The
Fiber Properties dialog box opens.
3. Click Label.
4. Set any of the Format options for the label:
◦ Type text in the box. To format a label on multiple lines, type ^n (CARET+N) to force the text to break to the next line.
| The following characters cannot be used in a label unless preceded by a backward slash (\): <, {, [, and ^n. For example to include the string <label> in a label you must type \<label>. |
◦ Click <param>. The Parameter Selector dialog box opens. Choose the parameters to include in the label.
◦ Click [fn(x)]. The Select a function dialog box opens. Choose the function names or Java function names to include in the label.
◦ Click Special characters. The Special Characters dialog box opens. Choose a character or enter one in the box. Click Other to add your own special character.
5. Click Preview to view the label.
6. Set the label Graphic Properties for the label text:
◦ Select a Position for the label from the list:
▪ Middle—Places the label in the middle of the fiber segment. When the fiber segment in the middle is too short for the label, it is placed parallel to the next segment.
▪ None—Does not place a label, even when one is configured.
▪ Both Ends—Places the label at both ends of the fiber segment. Click the Mirror check box to invert the end offset justification and use it to offset the second label.
▪ Start—Places the label at the beginning of the fiber segment.
▪ End—Places the label at the end of the fiber segment.
◦ Type a number in the Offset box, millimeters or inches, to set the distance from the fiber end to the label. The number in the other box updates automatically.
◦ Click
to change the
Font. The
Font Style Selection dialog box opens. Choose a font from the list and click
OK.
◦ Click
to change the text
Type. The
Select text type dialog box opens. Choose a type from the list and click
OK.
▪ Unadorned—Places a label with no added graphics.
▪ with + Datum—Places a label with a + drawn at the text anchor point.
▪ with Circle—Places a label with a circle surrounding the text.
▪ with Diamond Datum—Places a label with a diamond at the text anchor point.
▪ with Rectangle—Places text with a rectangle surrounding the text.
▪ with Rounded box—Places a label with a rounded box surrounding the text.
▪ with Underline—Places a label with underlined text.
▪ with X Datum—Places a label with an X at the text anchor point.
◦ Set the Layer on which to place the label.
◦ Type a number for the label Height (millimeters or inches).
◦ Set the Angle for the text orientation on the sheet.
| When you enter an angle greater than 120 degrees, it is automatically modified to - (180 - the specified angle) to keep the text legible. For example, an angle of 121 degrees becomes -59 degrees. |
◦ Click the Constrained check box to maintain the angle specified for label orientation relative to the sheet. Clear the check box to rotate the label to be parallel to the fibershape segment to which it is attached.
◦ Click the color button to select a text color. The Select a Color dialog box opens. Select the color and click OK or click Edit to create a custom color in the Define Color dialog box.
7. Set text placement. Use the crosshairs to place the label. Select the position of the crosshairs in relation to the text from the grid of Justification icons.
8. Click Apply to continue configuring fiber parameters and properties, or click OK to exit.
