When you select a groupshape linked to a cross-referenced groupshape, the cross-referenced shape is also automatically selected. When you edit, copy, or delete the groupshape the cross-referenced shape is also modified.

Selecting a cross-referenced groupshape does not automatically select the base groupshape. The cross-referenced groupshape can be deleted or repositioned relative to the base groupshape. When the cross-referenced shape is copied without copying the base groupshape, the new cross-referenced shape is not linked to the original base groupshape.
