About Compute Option for Surface Conversion in IDD
When you convert surfaces to procedural surfaces, you can use the Compute option to recalculate the converted surface geometry if the default results are not satisfactory. The conversion tools determine a default orientation reference for the procedural surface based on the geometry of the surfaces selected for conversion. The combination of this default orientation reference and the geometry of the surfaces selected for conversion are used to generate the converted surface set. If the geometry of the surfaces that you selected for conversion is ambiguous, the default orientation reference may not be what you want and a converted surface set that is not required is created. To correct this, you can manually select an orientation reference. Doing this alone only reorients the converted surface geometry. However, when Compute is activated after selecting the orientation reference, it discards the current converted surface set and recreates a new one based on the new orientation reference and the original surfaces. Selecting compute option overrides changes previously made to the origin, diameter, or section of the converted surface.
