To Generate a Flattened Harness Manufacturing Drawing
Prior to running HMX to generate a drawing, review the harness against the modelling recommendations, and regenerate the 3D model.
1. Click Applications > Harness Mfg. The Harness Manufacturing Extension dialog box opens.
2. From the Harness list, select the harness to be flattened.
3. From the Subharness list, select the subharness.
*
The Subharness option is available only in the Standard and Advanced packages.
4. [Optional] If you want to use customized drawing templates, click and navigate to the required drawing template. The selected template name displays in the Filename text box. If you do not select a drawing template, the default template is used.
*
You can use the mmD.dtl and Inch.dtl files at </loadpoint/Common Files/interconnect_app/templates> to create your own templates. You can also use a customized DTL file.
The selected drawing template file (.drw) should not contain any predefined views.
5. [Optional] If the wires in the harness are longer than the standard drawing template, click Variable sheet size. The drawing sheet expands horizontally to accommodate the large harness drawing.
6. Ensure that the drawing units listed under Units match those of the harness, spool, and assembly.
You can change the value of units by changing the values of the configuration options: pro_unit_length and pro_unit_mass.
7. [Optional] Type a value for the drawing sheet margins in the following option boxes:
Horizontal—The value defines the width of the left and right drawing margins from the edge of drawing template.
Vertical— The value defines the height of the top and bottom drawing margins from the edge of drawing template.
No drawing objects are placed beyond the margins.
If you do not provide a value for the margins, the default value of 15 millimeter or 0.50 inch is used.
8. Type a value between 0 and 10 in the Scale Factor box, to adjust the scale of the generated harness drawing. Enter 1 to generate a full-scale drawing. If you enter 0, Scale Factor defaults to 1 and a full-scale drawing is generated.
9. [Optional] ClickBend to Fit to bend the branches to fit the drawing template.
*
If you click both Variable sheet size and Bend to Fit, the wires are not bent in the horizontal direction.
10. [Optional] Click Cosmetics to include the cosmetic features in the flattened harness drawing.
11. Type the name of the model electrical parameter to which you want to map the following options:
Model “Description”
Connector “Seal”
Spool “Part number”
*
You can customize the BOM description in the BOM table. All other parameters are extracted directly from the harness assembly.
12. Click Flatten Harness. The flattened harness drawing opens in Creo Layout window.
The model assembly name, harness name, and the revision number are added to the harness manufacturing drawing in a note above the BOM table in the ASM-‘assembly name’ -Harn-‘harness name’ –Rev ‘revision’ format. The drawing file name is automatically generated and time stamped in the DRWMdd_mm_yyyy_hr-minAM/PM-# format.
You can modify the harness manufacturing drawing using Creo Layout. The edits made to the wire harness manufacturing drawing are not reflected in the 3D wire harness model. Each time you flatten a harness, a new harness manufacturing drawing is created. If you want to update the wire harness topography, you must modify the 3D harness model and then flatten the harness.
