About Converting to a Sheet Metal Part or Body
Use the Convert to Sheet Metal tool in Part mode to change a solid body into a sheet metal body. The solid body geometry is referenced to create the first wall. For a block-like body, use the Shell tool to remove one or more walls and to set the wall thickness. For a thin protrusion, use the Driving Surface tool to convert bodies of uniform or non-uniform thickness. When you convert a body in a solid part to a sheet metal body, the part becomes a sheet metal part.
*
You can only set thickness of a sheet metal body when it is not linked to the sheet metal part parameters.
After converting the body into a sheet metal body, use the Conversion tool to add any features required to make the part manufacturable, use individual tools to add each feature separately, or use the Flexible Modeling tools to recognize and manipulate design objects.
To access the Convert to Sheet Metal tool select one of the following procedures:
In Part mode, click Model > Operations > Convert to Sheet Metal.
In Part mode, select a solid body, right-click, and select Convert to Sheet Metal.
In Sheetmetal mode, select a solid body, right-click, and select Convert to Sheet Metal.
