Publish to PDF File Dialog Box
In this dialog box, choose your stylesheet and configuration file to produce a PDF. If Queue Transaction is checked, Save As and View PDF File are not available, as you are prompted for those when you retrieve the PDF from Arbortext Publishing Engine. For information on queuing, consult Using Arbortext Publishing Engine for Publishing Documents.
Save As— Specifies the path and file name of the PDF. Click Browse to locate an existing file.
View PDF File — When checked, opens the PDF file in the viewing application (typically, Adobe Acrobat Reader) after publishing is complete. Leave unchecked if you do not want the PDF file to open automatically.
Stylesheet — Lists the stylesheets in the document and document type directories that you can apply to format your document. Click Browse to locate an existing stylesheet that does not appear in the list.
If you are using Arbortext Publishing Engine for publishing documents, the list displays the notation (pe) preceding the stylesheet. These are the stylesheets available from the Arbortext PE server. Local stylesheets are ignored, and you can't send one to the server with your document.
Config File — specifies the PDF configuration file to use when creating the PDF.
If you are using Arbortext Publishing Engine for publishing documents, the list displays the notation (pe) preceding the configuration file. These are the configuration files available from the Arbortext PE server. Local configuration files are ignored, and you can't send one to the server with your document.
DITAVAL File — Lists the DITAVAL files (.ditaval) you can apply when publishing the document.
This option is only available when you are publishing a DITA map or topic. The files in the list are from the current document directory, the document type directory for the current document, and from the DITA references path. If you are Using Arbortext Publishing Engine for Publishing Documents, the DITAVAL file in the list is from the local document type directory, not the document type directory on the Arbortext PE server.
Click Browse to locate a DITAVAL file that does not appear in the list.
Print Engine displays the type of publishing engine being used. For information, see Publishing Engine Overview.
If your document has change tracking, you can publish the document in any of the change tracking states. By default, the change tracking view from the Edit window is selected, except when publishing from a DITA map.
If you are publishing a DITA map, Changes Applied is selected by default. When publishing from a DITA Map, the Change Tracking view that's selected applies only to the topics referenced from the DITA maps. The DITA map itself, as well as other referenced maps, is always published with Changes Applied, regardless of the Change Tracking view selected (even if a map has change tracking markup).
The choices are:
Changes with Highlighting — Shows all proposed changes, highlighted with revision marks.
Changes Applied — Shows all proposed changes incorporated into the document, without revision marks.
Original — Shows the original document without proposed changes incorporated into the document.
Tagged PDF — specifies whether the publishing operation outputs tagged PDF, according to the settings in an Arbortext Styler stylesheet. You can toggle this option on and off.
The option is only available if your stylesheet has the Generate tagged PDF setting enabled and you are publishing PDF via the PTC ALD engine.
Crop Marks, Date Mark Header, Registration Marks — puts these printer's marks on the formatted pages. These are only available with the PTC ALDPrint Engine.
Print range — Indicates which pages you want to print. Your choices are:
All — Prints the entire document.
Pages — Prints a range of pages that you specify in the page range entry field. Enter the page numbers separated by a comma for individual pages or a hyphen to include all pages within the range (for example, 1, 3, 5–7).
Queue Transaction — Choosing to Queue Transaction clears Save As and View PDF File values. Checking this box means you are prompted for the Save As file name and whether to View PDF File when you retrieve the result from your list of Queued Transactions, available from the Tools menu.
If you entered values in these fields, they are displayed again if you clear the Queue Transaction check box. Queue Transaction behavior is controlled by a set of Arbortext Publishing Engine preferences.
Transaction Name — Choosing to Queue Transaction enables you to enter a transaction name. The transaction name is displayed when you retrieve the result from your list of Queued Transactions, available from the Tools menu.
You can enter transaction names to use by default or for specific output types by entering values in the Queued Transaction Names Dialog Box.
Set Profiles — Opens the Set Profiles dialog box. If you have published the document previously in your current Arbortext Editor session, your last profile settings are displayed. The Set Profiles button is only available if profiles have been configured for the selected document type.
Create Rule— Opens Create New Publishing Rule where you can create a new publishing rule or rule set.

Acrobat Reader has a Print dialog box option to scale pages to fit the paper. If this option is on, content on pages printed by Acrobat may appear slightly reduced in size compared to the same pages printed using File > Print. This difference may be most noticeable when printing graphics.
