Introduction

Due to PTC’s rapid growth and continued success within the marketplace it has become necessary to evolve our Business Administration Systems to a level that will support our future business needs. The new infrastructure, in combination with PTC’s process re-engineering, will enhance the order management process, provide a single organization to focus on software installations and reconfigurations, and enable us to increase the level of service offered to our customers.

How Does PTC’s New Business Administration System Effect You?

PTC has made significant improvements in a number of areas including order management, product distribution, and license management. Each section of this document gives details of the changes in the process. Some of the major changes include:

  1. The order fulfillment process has been improved to separate license configuration from order entry. Software configuration has been removed from the order management process, streamlining PTC’s ability to quickly process and ship orders. Refer to the Order Fulfillment section.
  2.

  3. PTC knows that customers often purchase products well in advance of the planned use of those products. In order to support this buying pattern, ALL software and hardware configurations and reconfigurations will be managed by the License Management organization. For new orders, this will occur POST-shipment. Refer to the License Management sections.
  4.

  5. The new Business Administration System will introduce the use of Configuration IDs to track your software. Installation (install) numbers will no longer be used. Configuration IDs offers customers a number of key advantages over installation numbers. Refer to the Configuration ID section.
  6.

  7. PTC will introduce the use of maintenance entities for grouping and quoting maintenance. Site numbers will no longer be used for this purpose. Maintenance entities allow for greater flexibility and accurate quoting. Refer to the Maintenance Management section.
