To Extend an Edge
To extend along the original surface:
1. Select a quilt boundary edge or chain. A handle appears along the selected edge. A Live Toolbar appears.
2. Click Extend. Click to see the Floating Dashboard.
3. Select Along original surface in the Type area. If Floating Dashboard is collapsed, click to extend the quilt along original surface. It is selected by default.
4. Type a value in the Distance value box and press ENTER. Or, drag the handle in the Graphics Window till the required distance.
5. Click to toggle between extending or trimming the selected quilt. You can change the extend direction to the other side of the selected quilt edge.
6. In the Method area, select one of the following extension types:
Same: Creates an extension of the same selected surface past its original boundary.
Tangent: Creates an extension as a ruled surface that is tangent to the original surface.
Approximate: Creates an extension as a boundary blend between the boundary edges of the original surface and the edges of the extension.
7. Middle click to complete.
To extend a quilt to a reference plane:
1. Select a quilt. A handle appears along the selected edge. A Live Toolbar appears.
2. Click Extend. Click to see the Floating Dashboard.
3. In the Type area, click the arrow and select Normal to plane .
4. Select a reference plane perpendicular to the quilt. The selected quilt extends normal to the selected plane.
5. Middle-click to complete.
