Creo Direct > Designing in the Creo Direct Environment > Working in Assembly Mode > To Create a Shared Instance of a Component

To Create a Shared Instance of a Component
1. In an activated assembly (assembly mode), select a component from the graphics window or from the Model Tree.
2. Click Home and then click New Instance.
3. Click Shared Occurrence. The Position command gets activated and an Options Toolbar appears for positioning the component (part) instance. You can reposition the shared component.
4. Middle-click to complete the operation.
A shared occurrence of the component instance, selected in step 1 is inserted at the same level as the original component in the assembly structure. All the user-defined parameters of the original component are applied to its shared occurrence. The shared occurrence also has the same name as the original component.

* For components that are used more than once in a model, create a shared occurrence instead of creating a copy (See To Create a Copy of a Component Instance) of the components. By sharing components, you ensure that modifications made to one shared part are automatically reflected in all shared instances of that part.
