About Working in Assembly Mode
In Creo Direct assembly mode you can create a new assembly or add components (parts and subassemblies) to form assemblies. The Home tab on the Ribbon provides buttons for the following types of operations:
Creation and Modification of Assemblies
Activate a Live Toolbar for direct and intuitive geometry creation and modification.
Add a new component to the assembly.
Delete a component.
Obtain the measurement details of one or more selected entities on the components.
Move a geometric entity using the dragger or by specifying a dimension value.
Activate a part or a subassembly created in Creo Direct or Creo Parametric, update, and save it.
Display of Components
Apply a specific color to selected surfaces or components.
Set the display style of the assembly components.
Toggle the display of components such that the active components are fully visible and the inactive components are dimmed.
Orientation and Position of Assemblies and Components
Set the orientation of the assembly.
Define the position of a component.
Using External References
You can modify the geometry of a part within an assembly using an external reference to another component (part or subassembly). You must select the primary reference (using primary collector) in the active part. For the secondary reference (using the secondary collector), you can select an external reference for the following operations:
Moving using dimensions
Creating geometry such as holes, patterns, planes, Csys, or axis
Trimming a part within an assembly
Moving dragger placement reference collector
Substituting faces from inactive components
Creating a sketch on an entity that is on an inactive part (external reference) in an assembly. For more information see, To Create a Sketch on an Inactive Part in an Assembly.
